Surgical Services - Otorhinolayryngology (ORL) / Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT)

The Otolaryngology department is based at the Manukau campus and provides outpatient, day stay surgery and some inpatient services to the population of Counties Manukau. The department is very progressive and has been instrumental in expanding and developing services on this still relatively new site.

A friendly, supportive environment prevails within the department and a large emphasis is placed on providing excellent teaching and training opportunities for junior clinical staff. For example, the clinical skills of the nursing staff have been advanced, enabling nurses to become credentialled to carry out procedures such as Aural toilet and assessment of Otitis Media in children.

The department is very fortunate to have Professor Randall Morton on staff who holds a formal academic appointment with Auckland University. In respect to research, Professor Morton is also an enthusiastic role model with great understanding of the methodology and mechanics of developing research projects and writing for publication.
