Services We Provide - Medicine, Acute
Care & Clinical Support
Medicine
Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) serves a multicultural community, providing both generalist and specialist medical nursing experience while treating a vast range of medical conditions and diseases. We provide an ongoing commitment to implement innovative solutions and care for patients and staff.
The Division of Medicine provides 24/7 medical care for those patients requiring Cardiology, Respiratory, Internal Medicine, Palliative Care, Infectious Diseases, Stroke Services as well as other sub-specialty services. Currently there are five resourced wards providing inpatient care, with outpatient services being provided off site at Manukau, Botany and Pukekohe.
The Acute Demand Management works alongside Integrated Care to focus on caring for patients in the community by providing services such as intravenous therapy and oxygen therapy in the home.
A comprehensive orientation programme is provided for all new nursing staff joining the team with clinical leadership and expert clinical advice available from the Charge Nurses and Clinical Nurse Educators. We have also recently introduced the Duo/Trio Model of Nursing Care to enhance teamwork and provide a more supportive environment for all staff.
We offer ongoing educational and professional development programmes to assist all staff, and are also fortunate to have several nurse specialist positions within the service.
