Clinical Support - Laboratory

The laboratory services of Counties Manukau District Health Board provide a wide range of tests and services, including a blood collecting service at Middlemore Hospital and the Manukau SuperClinic™ - for both Counties Manukau and private patients.

The main analytical service is provided at Middlemore Hospital, in a purpose-built facility opened in June 1999 (although a service has been provided at the site for over 50 years). The range of services offered here includes: Blood Bank; Clinical Chemistry; Haematology; Histology and Microbiology; and Blood collection services are also provided for in-patients and outpatients.

Training
 
Our laboratory services are a recognised training establishment for Pathology registrars, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science students in final year work placements, and Qualified Technical Assistant and Phlebotomy students, continuing our commitment to supporting the learning and development of Health Care professionals.
