Professional Development

Women's Health is committed to investing in our people and we offer a comprehensive package for all staff to ensure they are fully supported in their roles. Paid leave is available for a range of professional development and education activties.

Basic education includes 4 weeks orientation to the service and CMDHB, ongoing training for existing staff, a rotation programme for midwives to provide an opportunity to up-skill and consolidate skills, and Midwife Coordinators to support new staff and a Midwife Educator for ongoing professional development.

We offer a Clinical Competency Pathway, which is a requirement for all staff to complete that supports ongoing development as a Midwife. We also have strong links with Auckland University of Technology and have developed in partnership with them a graduate Midwifery programme. A full academic library is also available onsite.
