Occupational Therapists

Occupational Therapists believe that it is healthy for people to continue to be involved in their usual occupations related to self-care, work and leisure, even despite the effects of illness, injury or disability. Our Occupational Therapists actively use a client-centred approach and base their work on the principles of evidence-based practice.

The Occupational Therapists team at CMDHB consists of Professional Leader, Section Heads, Seniors, Rotational and Therapy Assistants working with a wide range of people in the following areas:

  • Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit
  • Acute Allied Health
  • Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation Unit for older adults and neuro-rehabilitation for patients under 65 years
  • Needs Assessment and Service co-ordination (NASC)
  • Kidz First Child Development Service - Community
  • Mental Health (community mental health teams, intensive community teams, inpatient services, rehabilitation accommodation, maternal mental health and early psychosis intervention)
  • Cultural Services
  • Young Adult Rehabilitation Service
  • Community Hospitals - Pukekohe and Franklin Hospitals
  • Home Health Care

We have rotational positions that are supported by the Section Heads, and are designed as staff development positions. The Professional Leader for Occupational Therapy is responsible for the professional development and standards of practice of Occupational Therapists in the DHB.
