Nurse Entry To Practice (NETP) Programme

The journey from a graduate nurse to a competent Registered Nurse can be both daunting and exciting.  We at Counties Manukau District Health Board understand how important that first year is for a graduate nurse.   We endeavour to give our graduates the best experience and training they need to make that transition.

Here’s what some of our graduate nurses have to say about Counties Manukau DHB’s NETP programme:

“NETP coaches are very accessible and supportive.”  They themselves are proficient nurses and are there to help when you need them.”

“My Charge Nurse always treated me as part of the team, not as a grad.”

“Study days are great, they helped me towards the completion of my post grad paper.”

“Middlemore has a very friendly, relaxed, open culture. It has a family kind of feel.”

“At Counties, grads are wanted, they are not taken on because they have to.”

“At Middlemore you get a wide variety of cases, with a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds.  Even the paediatric patients can be quite acute.”

Your career deserves the best start, make the right choice.

The Nurse Entry to Practice programme available at Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) is a comprehensive twelve-month programme.

The aim is to provide a supportive environment in which the graduate nurse can progress and ensure competency is maintained throughout their first year of practice enabling him/her to provide a high standard of care and promote continuing professional development.

Support

At CMDHB we are committed to making graduate nurses feel supported.  The NETP team includes a Nurse Co-ordinator, Nurse Educator and Clinical Coaches and in addition there is support provided by area specific Nurse Educators and Preceptors to whom you are allocated to in your clinical area along with other team members.
